About the Project Office
To encourage investment in international submarine cable constructions, a Project Management Office (PMO) has been established to align stakeholder needs with Taiwan's submarine cable industry management and regulatory policies. We have also created an information service website for submarine cable applicants, offering procedural information, and insights of political and industrial trends within submarine cable and IDC sectors.
The PMO assists applicants in clarifying administrative procedures and required documentation. Additionally, the PMO provides guidelines tailored to Taiwan's industry ecosystem, which aims to enhance information transparency in submarine cable policies and application process, and accordingly to increase inquiries and investments from operators while creating a favorable environment for international submarine cable operators and data center enterprises to enter Taiwan's market.
As a result, it is anticipated that the PMO will boost the willingness of strategic partners to collaborate and form international alliances, effectively connecting domestic and foreign operators to leverage advanced network infrastructures and resources. This will drive the comprehensive development of the submarine cable and data center industries beneficial to Taiwan's digital transformation.
Role of the Project Office:
Establishing a Single Service Window
- Accelerating the submarine cable application process to boost investment in and usage of Taiwan's advanced network infrastructure by domestic and international companies.
- Assisting companies with online submarine cable applications, policy consultation, and business referrals.
Communications and Stakeholder Engagement
- Strengthening cross-ministerial connections to reduce regulatory barriers.
- Implementing multi-project management to achieve the vision of building up a resilient communication environment.
Providing Updates on the Submarine Cable Industry and Related Policies
- Improving companies' understanding of the goals of and procedures for submarine cable applications.
- Updating international submarine cable & IDC industry-related and policy-related developments, displaying information regarding the submarine cable application process etc..
